About You and Your Book

Thank you for considering Alice Greene & Co. as your publisher. We want to make sure that we are the right publisher for you and you are the right author for us. On this page we will explore you and your book and on the next the methods we use. If it looks like we have a match and you would like to provide us with a book proposal, we ask that you follow this checklist.

The books we publish

The books that Alice Greene & Co. publishes reflect our life experiences and interests. We want to publish books that will educate and entertain us, and people like us, that will help us operate in the environment in a responsible and sustainable manner and inspire our creativity. These are practical books that are not too long – enough detail to get the reader going, and not so much that they get bogged down in the book. As such, we want our books to be concise and thorough. We like books that teach methods, with enough theory to understand why, and plenty of detail to know how. The world of books is changing rapidly and where it will end no one knows. We find people still value a printed book and for many titles that may be enough. Other people are looking for books to be accessible in multiple ways at multiple times and locations; they may require different routes to access and navigate the content.

The authors we publish

Alice Greene & Co. sees its books as entertaining and educational, that readers will return to for reference and fresh inspiration. As such, the ideal Alice Greene & Co. author:
Knows how to write
Maybe this will be your first book, but you have something interesting to say, and can deliver on time. You’ve heard of spelling and grammar, and can organize your thoughts.
Is the right person for the job
You know what you are talking about, you know what you want to say, you’re excited to see your book on sale, and you have the energy to complete it and sell it.
Appreciates it is not a solo job
You know that publishing a book is more than writing it, and you are looking for help, for a partner; help in organizing and polishing the text, putting together a complete package, and all the mechanics of printing and distributing. You and we will keep each other informed of activities and progress, and ask for help when needed.
Knows we are the first of many to sell to
Making a book a retail success requires marketing effort from both the publisher and the author. We’ll do our research and build on our experience. Planning for marketing is something we do together from the beginning. But no one knows your book’s market as well as you do. That’s why it’s crucial for you to take an active role during and after the book’s publication.
Knows how to network
The internet and social networking provide many opportunities to enrich the content and market of the book through discussion. You are known for your subject, and you know others who are known, and are at ease meeting and talking with new people.
